A touch of that wind chill factor as well. Meaning that it feels like a lot less than it actually is…

I’m about to go for a run. Mid-life crisis ??!! Not a New Year’s resolution. Just fun to be fitter than I have been for a while. And with millions having fallen into a vat of Ozempic and Montjaro, I thought I would take the alternative route of action and willpower. I’m certainly not giving up anything – but I guess if one exercises regularly, the “anything” takes less of a toll. We shall see. Anyway, enough about me and my annoying moral high ground….

A day that did not fall our way in the desert yesterday. But more than enough hope and positivity in the jockey’s post race comments, and we move on and keep bloody kicking…

Always a shame when the cards do not fall right, and when disappointment kicks you hard in the pit of the stomach, but “hope and positivity” are two potent beacons to hang onto…

DESERT COP, a late load this time after gooning around and missing the kick last time, got a flyer from the traps. Too much of a “flyer”, tanking along in the lead of his split group. Doing too much too soon – an impression that was backed up by the numbers. He’s 100% this morning, and all being well we will drop back to 5 furlongs for the Al Wasmiya Cup on 16th January. Missing the break by half a stride and cover will be the plan….

NESTHORN and MAX MAYHEM in a messy running of the Al Dana Cup. Nesthorn has such a big stride, but he was never in a position to show it yesterday. Bumped and bored and game over, and pretty much the same for Max. A frustrating watch – but both jockeys, whilst bemoaning the way the race panned out, were very positive about our ongoing Turf Series chances…

And GORDON GREY training well as he moves towards his Bahrain debut in a few weeks time..

So competitive – and hugely proud of Sophie and Harriet who are masterminding a canny route in the sunshine. The Al Muharraq Trophy already in that glittery cabinet, and much to look forward to with all four horses….

Our first domestic runner today at Lingfield. Calafrio, Oisin Murphy up. A tight Fillies’ Handicap – hopefully a repetition of her first run for us at Kempton will see her run well…

Another dead Ashes rubber in Sydney tonight. I hoped to be there to see us lift the Urn – not to be, but I will go in four years time. A lot of tales will be told and races run before I’m beside that famous Harbour…

Now for that running bit. Darkness, minus something, crunching frost beneath the feet – midlife crisis….??!!
