George Baker Racing are moving to Downs House, Epsom Downs, Surrey, February 2025
George and Candida Baker started training from Far Westfield Farm in Warwickshire in 2008 with a couple of horses and a mad dream or three.
Music Box Express set the ball rolling when storming home at Wolverhampton under Matthew Davies in March 2008, and since that day the team have amassed close to 600 winners both in the UK and around the world.
Belgian Bill, the winner of the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot in 2013, was a globetrotting star for the team. He won prestigious Group races in Istanbul and Dubai, and ran with credit in The Arlington Million in Chicago. He was awarded the 2015 Golden Mile at Glorious Goodwood after the first past the post was disqualified, providing the team with a huge winner at a meeting that they have always targeted. Another “Glorious” highlight was the victory of Feel Glorious as an unconsidered 125/1 shot in 2018, and in 2024 Get It put in a scintillating front running performance to land the iconic Stewards Cup.
George and his team have never been afraid to race their horses abroad and adhere closely to the mantra of “Have Horse Will Travel”. This bold approach has produced winners in France, Germany, Belgium, the UAE and Turkey. And Wargrave won Switzerland’s prestigious Grosser Preis Von St Moritz on the frozen lake in 2020.
The Channel Islands has provided several winning days, and Sir Alex Ferguson’s If I Had Him was Champion Horse in 2013.
Having trained at two of the most famous racing establishments in Whitsbury and then Manton, George Baker Racing moved to Robins Farm in 2017. And now we are on the move again to the historic Downs House at Epsom from where we look forward to writing several more chapters of our ongoing tale.
