Is, apparently, a good time to bury news….

Saturday’s bumper newspaper editions are already rolling out across the land. Words written and dispatched to all corners. Trucks and trains and the ether dispensing the good, the bad and the indifferent news…

I half expected Lord Charles to slip away at night. Bonnie Lord Charlie following in the wake of Bonnie Prince Charlie…

“Speed Bonnie Boat, like a bird on the wing….”

But no news. Is this good news ?? Or just a dull delay of the inevitable….??

The TV in the office that usually shows Australian Racing at this hour carries the rather stark headline right now – “Iran Under Attack”. Hmmmmm….

The times we live in…

Back in our insular world of horses running around various fields, the pre-Cheltenham phoney war continues. No more trials. No more tribulations for those fearing the sound of bursting bubbles. We are in the home straight. Last pieces of work, and slightly fraught schooling sessions. Antepost plunges. Bookmakers shouting prices, but betting to high margins that are skewed heavily in their favour right now – which is understandable given that most are now “Non Runner No Bet…..”

The Preview circuit and the attendant attitudes and opinions. All part of the fun. I am at a couple next week when life changing Yankees and Accumulators will be crafted…

Still quiet for us on the runners front. LILLY LUX with an entry next week at Kempton on the flat, but eyes turning towards mares maiden hurdles a little further down the line…

GOOLOOGONG will be aimed at next Saturday’s Imperial Cup. Rain is falling again, and I’m not sure if Sandown is now in the Thames….

DESERT COP and GORDON GREY our final Bahrain runners of the season in the desert. Options on Thursday and Friday…

Weekend well !! If the rain stops, I might take in the glamour Aldershot v Rochdale game…

Another superb Gold Cup to further whet the appetite. Michael Dickinson’s famous five. Some old friends. I loved Bregawn – quirky, bonkers, great fun….
