Scrapingly cold. But not many degrees away…

Crisp and clear and bright and ice in the wind. Busy mowers on The Downs. Watering at Tattenham Corner. A dawn jogger. High trails in the sky as several head for warmer climes. Real heat in next week’s forecast. Three weeks today is Derby day. “Heat” in that day’s forecast would be very very welcome…

Lockinge at Newbury. A fascinating Group 1 as we rage through the dynamic of the flat festivals. Dante done. Epsom next…

Two runners for us today…

DESERT COP thrives on his racing. The more he races the better he moves. Running well at Windsor last Monday when he traded odds on in running before finishing a creditable 3rd. Back out today in an uber competitive £75,000 Newbury sprint handicap. Ignored in the betting. One of the “rags” at 25/1. He was 22/1 at Windsor – and we do have a little bit of big priced history in these sprint handicaps…

Did I ever tell you about the days when Get It won The Stewards Cup and The Wokingham ?? Probably not…

Charlie Bishop on Desert Cop…

Kyle McHugh on Tex at Newmarket. A “Hands and Heels” contest for jockeys who have ridden 10 or fewer winners. A variable or three in those race conditions. But dice to be rolled – Tex should have won a week ago when throwing “upward” as opposed to “forward” shapes when the stalls opened. What was that all about….??

FA Cup Final. We can see the Wembley Arches from the top of the gallops. I vividly remember the time when this was almost the only live football match on TV. We would turn on our screens and watch the players eat their breakfast before changing into their Cup Final suits. And then helicopters would follow the team buses….

High drama. Huge tension. unbelievably exciting…

And the annual team songs…?!

Suggsy….
