From “Minus 5” to “Horizontal sleet….”

Fun driving on the A3 and the M25 just now. Slaloming between the puddles. Lashing rain…

Snow in the north….

Snow in Scotland. Scotland The Brave. Tallulah reporting “SCENES” in Edinburgh last night as World Cup qualification was secured with a dramatic last gasp victory over Denmark. Scotland headed to the Finals for the first time in 30 years….

I vividly recall Ally Macleod’s 1978 Scottish team….

“We are on the march with Ally’s Army,
We’re going to The Argentine,
And we’ll really shake them up,
When we win The World Cup,
‘Cause Scotland are the greatest Football Team…..”

They did not win The World Cup. By a long chalk. But they had some fun along the way, and I imagine that Travel Agents north of the border will be doing a roaring trade this morning. And US roadmaps will be laid out across several kitchen tables…

Ashes countdown. Plenty of banter between the legends of yesteryear. Old pros sledging old pros. Glenn McGrath yet to come out with his inevitable 5-0 prediction. Merv Hughes summing it up – “you won’t find an Englishmen predicting an Australian win, and you won’t find an Aussie predicting an English win….”

Sleep patterns still to be determined….
