The Shipping Forecast…

“Gale Force Seven, rising to Gale Force Eight…”

For those in peril…

Disruptive. An apt weather backdrop to “Happy Budget Day….”

Last one to leave, please turn the lights out. Or a bold budget that will herald a brave new fiscal dawn….?

A budget that allows many to continue to live on benefits and hand-outs whilst others battle to keep their businesses from sinking to the depths of a dark black fiscal sea….??

Or a budget that will reward aspiration and dogged determination in the face of the headwinds…??

A sad and flawed failure to understand rural life and communities. Long term multi generational stewardship and responsibility for land set to be penalised. Fine to go after the land bankers who bought their land for tax efficient, or evasive, reasons – but to target families who have presided over agricultural land and communities for centuries is beyond flawed. It is vindictive – and it is very wrong….

We shall see what fun and games Rachel from Accounts produces from her red briefcase at lunchtime. Not a lot of champagne on ice. Except to drown sorrows…

Pivotal – in very many ways. Where will we be this time tomorrow……??

Maybe I will be googling stable availability in Chantilly ? Or Del Mar ? Or Wagga Wagga…..?

The three London Buses at Lingfield ran well yesterday. LILLY LUX sent off at 100/1 but belying those odds by several furlongs in finishing an excellent and encouraging running on 3rd. When she arrived with us from France, she looked magnificent – but her first two races here were beyond awful. Patient owners, as ever, the key, and Lilly came to the farm in Sussex for much of the Summer. And thrived. And rebooted. And reset. And showed yesterday that there is plenty to look forward to…

Patient owners….

DANGER ALERT looked to have slipped his field on the home bend. But it was not to be. 4th. No disgrace, no cigar. He WILL have his days…

And MARSH BENHAM doing Marsh things. Looking to be tailing off at halfway and then storming home. Fast, but too late. So Marsh….?!

No runners today…

I wonder what time it will be when I write the blog from Wagga Wagga tomorrow….??
