Batting….

“Batting as if there is a bus waiting outside to get them to the pub before last orders….”

“Bazball without brains…”

“They are playing a very bad form of baseball…”

The waiting is over. But not worth the wait. Waking to dismissive and exasperated commentators trying to make sense of some chaotic batting and muddled thinking…

Archer striking back early. But there is an Ayers Rock of a mountain to climb if England are not to go 1-0 down in Perth, and be right on the back foot before the games have really begun…

Dust to dust. Ashes to Ashes…

On waking, I asked Alexa for an update on the score. “She” told me that Bangladesh have scored 467 in the Second Test against Ireland. Interesting. But not quite what I was looking for…

England bowling fabulously well. Can the bowlers bail the batters out ? A very big ask…

Sport, Bloody Hell. And all before dawn has even started creeping over a very black, bleak and cold horizon…

Back to the Racing news to cheer us all up…

“BHA has invested £5.9 million in delayed Racing Digital project with ‘costs significantly higher than budget’ accounts reveal….”

Well done guys and girls. The rudderless ship continues to blunder on with ill considered and ill conceived spending. With the financial headwinds raging, who is responsible for this flawed call…??

Obviously not former BHA Chief Executive Julie Harrington who left the role last year with “an ex gratia payment of £190,000”, bringing her final annual salary to a total of £598,000….

I am sure that her superb tenure at the helm justified every single penny….

Or……???!!!!

Julie is now Chief Executive of British Cycling. Horse racing once again providing the conduit to leading positions in other domains. Good on yer Julie – well played….
