I have said this before, and I don’t make any apologies for occasionally venting my frustration at the vested fractions and their petty politicking in our sport, but we don’t stand in the CV car park discussing the financial woes of the Rugby Football Union. And the vast majority of people who click through racecourse turnstiles have next to nil interest in the flawed governance and funding of our sport…

Which is entirely understandable. People attend sports for the sheer joy of being there. The bigger picture exercises only the minority, and primarily those of us on the shop floor…
