Hanging damp that seeps into the bones….

Wet, wet, wet. Streams where there have never been streams. Going sticks plunging deeper than ever into sodden racecourse turf. And more rain on the way, and “flood warnings” aplenty, and “Racing abandoned” up and down this squelchy island…

Twickenham on Saturday. The Cardinal Vaughan car park with great friends. It rained…

Welsh rugby in sad turmoil, and the match gone as a contest within a matter of minutes. The French roll into Cardiff next weekend, and that’s one to be watched from behind the sofa. It could be a cricket score….

Nepal very nearly posted one hell of a cricket score yesterday to beat England. Falling just short, but picking up several new camp followers for their brave effort…

Some decent jumps action at a muddy Newbury. Cheltenham clues – or chances scuppered in sapping mire ? Haiti Couleurs well on track for The Gold Cup for my great mate Rebecca Curtis, and Tuti Quanti strolling away with the Schweppes / William Hill Hurdle. The latter sneaking into the Champion Hurdle picture, but odds against “Heavy” being in the going description at HQ. ‘Good to Soft’ is always the favourite for day one – and there will probably be talk of watering….?!

Barney Baker up a mountain, and taking in The White Turf fixture on St Moritz’s “frozen” lake. But sadly the “frozen” bit has become a real variable, and news of a horror fall on the back straight yesterday further cementing my view that our runners there are firmly in the past…

Great days with ANCIENT GREECE, the first horse to win at all three meetings, and WARGRAVE, the 2020 Grosser Preiss winner. Happy memories…

Still quiet on the runners front. A couple in Bahrain at the next Turf Series fixture in a fortnight, and Lilly Lux declared for Kempton on Wednesday evening…

Mention of WARGRAVE prompted me to watch this again…
