“Will be back here for the Cup….”
Flemington. Melbourne…
The Bart Cummings Group 3 Handicap just run. “Win and you are in” for the race that stops a Nation…
Handicaps that are Group races. I like that. “The Group 1 Stewards Cup Handicap” at Glorious one day…??
All eyes on Paris. Several of the support races for the Arc have cut up. The Prix de L’Abbaye tomorrow has only 14 runners. I wish Humidor or Harry Hurricane were still around…
One of the great weekends to be in Paris. Autumnal glow off brown leaves. Carafes of wine taken on sidewalks. People watching. “Paris Turf” newspapers fluttering in gentle breeze. “Escargots s’il vous plait….”
Good ground the call at Longchamps. Group 1’s spread across the weekend like confetti. The cannonball run of British punters is well under way. The stragglers still to arrive in Paris. Several who are there already will have got over excited last night and had the one extra glass that brings regret in the morning…
Nothing that a good walk along the Seine to Notre Dame and a black coffee won’t sort out…
A gentle afternoon at the track today in terms of the crowd. The French keeping their powder dry and their finery under wraps ahead of the big day tomorrow. One of the very few days when the French go racing en masse. What a great day it is. What a fabulous weekend…
Jealous of those who are waking up in various arrondissements this morning. Next year !! With a hatful of runners. That’s the plan…!!
No runners over the weekend for us…
Aldershot at home to Carlisle United…??
Middle of the course at Fontwell…??
Chase a white ball around West Sussex acres…??
Or just put the feet up and watch it all unfold…??
The top three vying for favouritism. The last option trading at 50/1….
Ascot yesterday. TEX throwing in an under par effort. He does that occasionally. Freshen him up, and go again before the turf is wrapped up for the winter…
MUST BELIEVE ran really well. He stays two miles for sure. Cool horse. Good days ahead with him for sure…
Mists of time. 1978. Alleged. Lester…
