Did you see their announcement just before Royal Ascot ? News that they had appointed a firm of headhunters to source a replacement for the long gone Lord Allen. Three months after his departure from his one day a week gig, they have appointed a firm of headhunters ?! Three months…..??!!
What on earth took so long…??
A glacial process that leaves the sport rudderless and without a strong Chair man or woman at the helm. The advertised job will require the successful applicant to dedicate “two days a week” to the role. Two days a week ???? WTF….?? We need somebody who will focus entirely on the challenges, and not mix it in with a host of other lucrative “jobs”…
Mind boggling ?! What price that we have somebody to fill the void by Christmas….??
Or Cheltenham….??
I have met good and wise folk who were excluded from the previous process on a political basis. But who would have dedicated 7 days a week to the job. Surely it is time to throw petty politics and petty politicking out of a high window, and to alight upon somebody who will go at this with all guns blazing and full on (as opposed to part time) commitment…
