17th July 2010 - Explorator Wins at Ripon
Explorator: Racing Post Analysis
EXPLORATOR had won his last two starts on firm ground but his pedigree suggested this easier surface wouldn´t inconvenience him, and in fact he put up his most impressive performance to date. He is a very progressive 3yo and it´ll be a surprise if he can´t add to his tally.

EXPLORATOR & STEFANKI DOUBLE AT LINGFIELD!!!
Stefanki: Racing Post Analysis
They went a
strong pace
and the
really
well-backed
STEFANKI
showed
himself
better than
this level
with a most
decisive
success on
his first
start for a
new yard.
The winner
failed to
progress
when with
Roger Curtis
last year,
but still
looked
potentially
fairly
treated off
a mark of 69
on this
switch to
handicap
company
seeing as he
recorded an
RPR of 75 on
debut, and
so it
proved.
Returning
from 228
days off, he
was being
pushed along
out wide
around the
turn into
the
straight,
and still
had quite a
bit to do
once in line
for the
finish, but
he
ultimately
ran on
really
strongly to
draw clear
late on.
Provided he
takes this
race okay,
he would be
extremely
hard to beat
should
connections
turn him out
under a
penalty, and
he should
stay at
least 7f.
Explorator: Racing Post Analysis
EXPLORATOR, 4lb well in under the penalty picked up for his handicap debut success over 1m1f around here, had to be briefly pushed along over the undulations before the straight, and then took a while to pick up for more vigorous pressure in the straight, but he found enough once Culhane went for the whip. This was workmanlike, and things will be harder off his new mark, but it wouldn´t surprise to see him go on improving. Apparently he could be turned out again soon, when a claiming rider might be employed.
