Sinbad The Sailor - Georges' Analysis:
Sinbad The
Sailor is a
horse who I
have
followed for
quite some
time.
Originally
owned by
Barney's
Godfather
Michael
Wauchope,
and trained
by John
Hills, this
horse has
always
struck me as
the type to
do better
with time -
and over a
set of
hurdles.
To that end,
it was
immensely
gratifying
to be able
to buy him
at the
Tattersalls
Horses In
Training
Sales in
October
despite some
pretty stiff
resistance
from other
interested
parties.
And great
that Sir
Alex
Ferguson was
prepared to
buy him and
support us.
Last night's
contest
looked a
decent
starting
point. But
was by no
means D-Day
and, with an
odds-on shot
and handicap
blot in
opposition,
we were just
hopeful of
an
encouraging
run. A
4 1/2 length
victory
definitely
fits into
the
"hopeful"
category and
gives us
much to look
forward to
with this
lovely
horse.
Racing Post Analysis:
SINBAD THE SAILOR, who didn't seem to get 1m6f when twice tried by previous connections last season, stayed this longer trip extremely well on his first run for George Baker. Although bought to go hurdling, it seems that the winner will keep to Flat staying handicaps. These aren´t the hardest races to win with a horse who is at the right end of the handicap and there should be at least one more before the handicapper steps in. He won off an 11lb higher mark as a three-year-old.
